In 1999, a group of IIUM students, who are sensitive and concerned on the dreadful social problem that faced by the Malaysian youth, had organized a program named Youth Leadership Course (Kursus Kepimpinan Rakan Muda), KARISMA, led by Brother Asyraf Wajdi Hj Dasuki with the collaboration with Ministry of Youth and Sports and Persatuan Kebangsaan Pelajar Islam Malaysia (PKPIM).
The program which was initiated to stress on the importance of Akhlaq and positive thinking in everyday life was joined by the students of UIAM themselves. The program was held in numerous schools in Klang Valley which had a shocking discipline record and it is very worrying. The objective of the program was to identify and analyze the core of the problem and at the same time trying to curb this social problem among the Malay youth.
On 2000, based on the excellent performance, KARISMA Main Board had formed a proposal so that the KARISMA program is registered under the Student Development Division, UIAM and it was changed to KARISMA Club.
21st February 2001, the KARISMA Club is officially legal and the establishment of this club has been verified by Tuan Haji Dr. Rahmatullah Khan b. Abd Wahab Khan, Dean of Student Affairs and Development Division. The establishment of this club has been a platform for KARISMA to propagate it’s da’wah to the ummah.
